AN IMPLICATION OF THE E-BOOK EXPLOSION

The turmoil in publishing caused first by the economic downturn and then the explosion in e-book sales has created uncertainty within commercial publishers. Even those who have embraced the digital book are yet to make it pay and yet to make up lost revenue from declining print sales. Risk aversion has become commonplace at many publishing houses in the face of this climate. For the moment, they are betting the dollars they do have on well-established fiction authors, leaving aspiring authors in the cold.
